About Me

Hi there! This is Celine and a big welcome to my personal website 😊. I am a recent graduate from National University of Singapore with a Master’s Degree in Statistics, currently looking for full-time opportunities in Data Scientist/Data Analyst/ML Engineer roles. I am passionate about building models and enjoy digging out patterns and insights from barrels of data to solve real-world problems. During my last internship at Changi Airport Group, I leveraged advanced ML algorithms to predict the on-time completion of aircraft turnaround activities. The final model turned out to be competitive against the only ready commercialized solution in the industry back then on multiple performance metrics, which provided helpful information to project managers on the maintenance of vendor relationships and also advised subsequent model developers on how to modify the model to improve its performance as the data is increasing in volume and variety. Thanks to the intensive training of my Master’s coursework, I gained a solid foundation in Statistics theory and lots of hands-on experience in data analysis and modelling. I am proficient in various programming languages and analytics tools, including Python, R, SQL, Microsoft Power BI, etc. At the same time, I also keep developing my software engineering skills, such as version control (Git) and CI/CD, along the journey.

In my free time, I tutor students in Statistics at both undergraduate and graduate levels on a part-time basis, which allows me to share my knowledge and passion with beginners at their outset of exploring the realm of Statistics and Data Science. Besides, I am obsessed with singing and won several prizes and awards (might require login to LinkedIn to display) as an undergraduate. I am also enchanted to study languages and cultures that connect me to friends and communities worldwide. I am a native Mandarin-Chinese speaker who is also fluent in English, and I just began to systematically learn the Korean language after years of keeping up with the K-pop industry.

Internship Experience

Data Science and Machine Learning Intern || July 2023 - Dec 2023

@ Changi Airport Group, Airport Operations
- Analyzed business needs into technical solutions with cross-functional teams of domain experts and project managers to prepare for feature engineering.
- Collected and preprocessed 20k+ rows of offline data with data science libraries in Python (NumPy, Pandas, Seaborn, etc.), delivering a detailed exploratory data analysis report.
- Developed and fine-tuned new machine learning models using Scikit-Learn API of XGBoost in Python, achieving an accuracy competitive against the only ready commercialized solution in the industry.
- Deployed the final model in a CI/CD pipeline on the AWS cloud platform as a microservice, delivering an end-to-end machine learning project.

Produced and delivered live performances at the "Starry Night" New Year Festival of Zhizhen College for two consecutive years
- In 2017, led a group of 29 students without musical backgrounds to present a chorus performance and served as the conductor, earning a place in the festival’s repertoire.
- In 2018, orchestrated and performed a multi-talented singing show in celebration of the first anniversary of Zhizhen Mentorship Program, harmonizing a diverse team of singers, actors, instrumentalists, and backstage technicians to deliver a touching and memorable experience to the audience.
